Researching healing diets for psoriasis

Then I spent another two and a half years studying different types of healing diets like macrobiotics, raw foods, veganism, pH balance and then at the end of three years time, I realized that for the first time in my life I had a sustained remission without any prescription medication.

I thought I'm going to go back into nutrition. I'm going to see if what I've learned might help somebody else and I approached Whole Foods. They told me that I needed to be a registered dietitian to teach there and so I took the test to get re-certified as a registered dietitian. Then as I started doing consultations for people I realized I was spending a lot of time after the consultation putting together information that I could send them to make it easier for them to have success with what I'd recommended.

And as I was spending all this time after consultation, it occurred to me Why don't I just put all this stuff together into one thing and make a little brochure out of it. It will be a much more useful and much more professional for me to present this to someone as a little guideline at the end of the consultation. And then I won't have to just spend all this time doing these email attachments. They aren't nearly as well formulated as a concrete little brochure would be.

I put it into a brochure and then it occurred to me. In fact, the first time I ever started selling it was when I was speaking at the national conference for the National Psoriasis Foundation. And I thought maybe I should bring some of these things with me and see if anybody would want to buy them. And I sold a bunch.

Also when I spoke at that conference what I saw was that a lot of people had interest in diet and psoriasis because the particular class I did tied for the highest attendance of all the lectures that we're given. And so the interest in my class combined with the book that sold made me think that maybe some other people would want to buy this, too.

And people that really have nothing to do with psoriasis because what I'd realized by this time was that the principles associated with this way of eating are not limited to psoriasis. These principles extend to the spectrum of chronic disease.

Now the book sells in whole foods markets. They sell in physician offices. They sell in dermatologist offices. They sell in book stores. The sell on Amazon and Amazon is now selling in five countries.

So it kind of grew. I never intended to write a book. I was basically trying to make my consultations as effective as possible.
